PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance durability by enhancing rigidity of a bearing unit for a drive wheel and to accomplish miniaturization and compact size. SOLUTION: In the bearing unit for the drive wheel, a hub wheel, an outer coupling member of a constant velocity universal joint and an axle bearing are unitized and at least one of a plurality of rows on inner races of the axle bearing is formed on the outer coupling member. The outer coupling member has a mouth part and a shaft part and an end surface at the shaft part side of the mouth part of the mouth part is made an abutment surface with the hub wheel. The shaft part and the hub wheel are bonded by mating and serration and length of the mating part is made to 1/5 or more of a shaft diameter of the mating part. The outer coupling member and the hub wheel are bonded by calking the shaft end of the outer coupling member and in the serration part, a fastening margin is provided between engagement teeth.
