PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footstool for a ladder superior in versatility capable of coping with the ladder of various sizes, without hindering ascending-descending operation after being installed on the ladder, and capable of holding a standing posture in a stable posture in a work state at an elevated spot, in the collapsible footstool easily carriable in ascending-descending. SOLUTION: This footstool for the ladder has an arm body 1 forming a hook on the tip to be hooked on a step bar of the ladder, a tread 2 arranged in a position in the vicinity of the step bar (a second step bar) under by one stage of a first step bar on the person ascending-descending side when hooking a hook 1a on the step bar (the first step bar), and a temporary foot placing bar arranged so as to be positioned between the second step bar and a step bar (a third step bar) under by its one stage when engaging the hook with the step bar.
