The present invention relates to a method for controlling a reversible belt pretensioner in a motor vehicle, comprising the following method steps: (S1) detecting the speed and the steering angle of the motor vehicle, (S2) calculating an expected rate of rotation of the motor vehicle about its vertical axis from the speed and the steering angle, and calculating an upper and a lower limit value for the rate of rotation on the basis of the expected rate of rotation, (S3) detecting the actual rate of rotation of the motor vehicle about its vertical axis, and (S5, S7) activating the belt pretensioner when the actual rate of rotation of the motor vehicle is greater than the upper limit value for the rate of rotation or is less than the lower limit value for the rate of rotation. The present invention also relates to a safety arrangement for carrying out the method according to the invention. |
