<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered compact for a magnetic head slider which is capable of reducing the difference in level of an air bearing surface and having sufficient flatness of a polished surface, the magnetic head slider using the same and a method of manufacturing the sintered compact for the magnetic head slider. <P>SOLUTION: The sintered compact for the magnetic head slider comprises alumina crystal grains, titanium carbide crystal grains and carbon crystal grains, wherein the ratio of carbon crystal grains having a particle diameter exceeding 100 nm is ≤35% in the particle diameter distribution of the carbon crystal grains basing on the number as a reference on the sintered compact cross section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
