<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translation apparatus and method capable of flexibly selecting a translation engine when the translation engine is selected from among the plurality of translation engines prepared to translate document data. <P>SOLUTION: This translation apparatus is provided with a text and use environment receiving part 21 for receiving document data in first language and use environment information relating to the document data from user terminal equipment 12, a plurality of translation engines 1 to 4 for translating the first language into the second language, a translation managing part 25 referring to the storage content of an evaluation database 26 from the received use environment information, and for selecting the first translation engine on the basis of the preliminarily decided rule, and for making the translation engine translate the received document data in the first language into the document data in the second language, and for returning the document data to the user terminal equipment 12, and a translation engine selection updating part 32 for updating the storage content of an evaluation database 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
