PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver, the power consumption of which is minimized while ensuring communication accuracy. SOLUTION: The receiver includes: a reception level detection means 104 that detects a level of a radio wave of a received channel and outputs the value; an arithmetic means 105 that applies an arithmetic operation to the output of the reception level detection means 104 and outputs the result; and a control means 106 that judges the presence/absence of carrier sensing on the basis of an output of the arithmetic means 105 and controls a demodulation means 107 on the basis of a result of the judgement, and the receiver implements carrier sensing for a plurality of number of times and calculates results of the carrier sensing to prevent erroneous sensing of noise or signals of other channels thereby minimizing the power consumption.
