PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical biaxially oriented polyester film improved in optical properties capable of forming an image of high quality free from irregularity or a flaw and realizing high-degree brightness when used as an optical product member, especially a backlight diffusing plate for LCD or a base material for a prism sheet. SOLUTION: The optical biaxially oriented polyester film is obtained by a simultaneous biaxial stretching method and characterized in that film haze is 0-3.0% and the angle formed by a main orientation direction and the MD of the film is 35-65°.
