<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately adjust phase relations between image carriers, in an image forming apparatus in which at least one or more image carriers are connected to each of a plurality of motors, toner images formed on the corresponding image carriers are superposed while the plurality of image carriers are rotated by driving the plurality of drive motors at predetermined regular speeds, and thus a color image is formed. <P>SOLUTION: A dot count value relating to the rise characteristic of each drive motor 50 is stored in the memory of the main body of the apparatus in advance. Prior to a phase adjustment, the dot count value is read from the memory, and a rise time difference (tA-tB) between the drive motors is obtained based on the dot count value. Further, based on an output time difference Δts and the rise time difference (tA-tB), the timing of accelerating each drive motor 50 from a phase detection speed Vi to a regular speed Vdef is controlled and, thereby, phase differences between the photoreceptor drums are adjusted at set phase angles. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
