PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery provided with a PTC element securing a space allowing volume expansion of a PTC main body part when operating the PTC element by preventing a trip phenomenon of the PTC main body part by providing a cover member in a surface of the PTC main body part so that a high temperature hot melt resin does not directly contact the surface of the PTC main body part in manufacturing battery pack. SOLUTION: The secondary battery of this invention houses the PTC element provided with a first conductive part electrically connected with one electrode of a bare cell, a second conductive part electrically connected with a protection circuit substrate, the PTC main body part located between the first conductive part and the second conductive part, and a cover member covering at least a part of the surface of the PTC main body part.
