PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position an imaging lens for focusing on a subject. SOLUTION: When a shooting mode is set, a subject is imaged, and an image data representing the image of the subject is obtained. A continuous AF operates so that the image of the subject represented by the obtained image data is brought into focus. The range Z11-Z13, before and after the focused position Z12 of the imaging lens obtained by the continuous AF, is determined as the focus range. Final search is conducted in the determined focus range of Z11-Z13. The focus position Z1f is determined from the graph Q1 of the focus integrated values obtained in the final search.
