PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image read apparatus in which a document supporting plate is easily recycled. SOLUTION: An image read apparatus comprises: a housing having an opening; a transparent document supporting plate which is adhered on the housing and closes the opening; a read unit provided under the document supporting plate for reading a document placed on the document supporting plate; and a recessed portion provided on the housing for forming a gap, into which a machine tool for separating the housing and the document supporting plate can be inserted, between the housing and the document supporting plate.
