PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve response speed by performing AGC processing for data to be corrected, using transfer average of data of the width including the data as the center, wherein the AGC processing is performed in real time. SOLUTION: In the gain control circuit, an echo signal is A/D converted and stored in a memory to reduce the level difference in the echo signal. For the data D(i) read out from the memory, the AGC processing is performed by calculating transfer average value Ave(i) from data (D(i-n)-D(i)-D(i+n)) of the section including the data D(i) at the center, calculating AGC gain G(i) from the transfer average value Ave(i), and multiplying the data D(i) by the AGC gain G(i).
