PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector where an optical conversion element can be efficiently cooled through a pedestal without any problems such as cost increase, its upsizing, and noise increase. SOLUTION: An opening 642B3 formed in a duct 64B is closed by a head body 7 as a pedestal for placing a cross dichroic prism. Thus, cooling air flows under the head body 7, then, the head body 7 is cooled. The head body 7 is connected to the optical conversion element in a thermal-conductive state, and the head body 7 has a function of discharging heat from the optical conversion element and cooling the optical conversion element, then, by cooling the head body 7 with the cooling air, the optical conversion element cooling efficiency is enhanced.
