PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate effectively the possibility of damage due to freezing of residual liquid in the liquid supply passage. SOLUTION: A liquid supply device has an opening and closing mechanism, or an opening and closing valve 30, opening and closing the liquid supply passage, or a linear flow passage 37. In the upstream of the opening and closing mechanism of the liquid supply passage, it has an expansion absorption mechanism 60 absorbing an expansion of the volume produced on freezing of the residual liquid in the liquid supply passage on the upstream side of the opening and closing mechanism. The expansion absorption mechanism 60 consists of a piston 61 and an elastic member, or an expansion absorption spring 65, and the large-diameter portion of the piston 61 is housed, in a freely slidable way, in an expansion absorption chamber 54 formed in the terminal part of the linear flow passage 37 on the upstream side.
