DISPLAY AND ILLUMINATOR

A display for illuminating a liquid crystal panel with laser light with a uniform light quantity distribution, and an illuminator for irradiating laser light with a uniform light quantity distribution. The display comprises a liquid crystal panel (204), laser light sources (205, 206, 207) outputting laser light having wavelength regions of green, red and blue, a waveguide plate (201) arranged on the back side of the liquid crystal panel (204) and performing multiple reflection of laser light, and a diffuser (202) for diffusing laser light propagating on the waveguide plate (201) and emitting the light in the direction of the liquid crystal panel (204).
