A cleaning method of a tire vulcanization die for cleaning the molding face of a sector of the tire vulcanization die for molding the tread portion of a pneumatic tire by using plasma generated in reaction gas atmosphere chemically reacting with a contaminant adhering to the molding face of the sector. The cleaning method comprises a step for arranging the sector on an electrode table in a cleaning tank, a step for supplying reaction gas into the cleaning tank while reducing the pressure in the cleaning tank, a step for generating plasma between a discharge electrode and the molding face of the sector by supplying high frequency power to the discharge electrode, and a step for generating a negative self-bias voltage in the electrode table by applying to the electrode table a high frequency voltage lower in frequency than a high frequency supplied to the discharge electrode.
