PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire for improving braking performance without deteriorating steering stability. SOLUTION: On a side wall 18A on a main groove side in a peripheral direction of a land part 18, a protrusion 20 extending in a groove bottom direction from a tread surface at least in brand-new condition is formed so as not to protrude from a kick-out end of the land part 18. A center line TCL in a tire peripheral direction of the protrusion 20 is disposed toward a step-on end from the kick-out end of the land part 18 within the range of 8.3 to 18.8% of a length L<SB>0</SB>in the tire peripheral direction of the side wall 18A. A length L<SB>1</SB>of a portion to be connected with the side wall 18A of the protrusion 20 when viewing the land part 18 from the tread surface is set to 4.1% or more of the length L<SB>0</SB>in the tire peripheral direction of the side wall 18A, thereby suppressing swelling of rubber in the main groove side of the peripheral direction in the vicinity of the tread surface of a portion largely deformed due to rolling-in at the time of braking, namely, in the vicinity of the kick-out end of the land part 18, and a portion slightly deviating toward the step-on end from the kick-out end. Therefore, the rolling-in at the time of braking can be suppressed, a grounding property is enhanced, and the braking performance is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
