PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and a method for forming an image in which streak-like density variations or hollow parts caused by a joint part of adjoining short recording heads can be made inconspicuous, and density variations caused by uneven recording density characteristics of the short recording heads can be corrected, without arranging the short recording heads using a strict position adjustment. SOLUTION: In an image forming device in which one long recording head is composed by arranging a plurality of short recording heads, a duplication correction control section 47 controls the driving of each nozzle of the short recording heads in nozzle train units 51-1 to 51-m depending on the phase difference of nozzle location between the duplicate short recording heads as a density correction for the image formed by the part in which nozzles of the short recording heads in the nozzle train units 51-1 to 51-m are duplicate. A density characteristic correction control section 46 controls the driving of each nozzle of the short recording heads in nozzle train units 51-1 to 51-m depending on the recording density characteristics for each nozzle train independently from the duplication correction control section 47.
