PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit for a wheel capable of maintaining high sealing performance by preventing easy fixing of mud to a tip neighborhood and a counterpart face of a seal lip slidably contacting in an axial direction of a sealing device, and eliminating contact in portions other than a sliding part of the seal lip tip even when there is fixing of mud. SOLUTION: The bearing unit O for a wheel has a hub 3, an outer ring 1, a plurality of rolling elements 10 arranged so as to roll between the hub 3 and the outer ring 1, and the sealing devices 12a, 12b having axial seal lips 23a, 32a attached to one of the hub 3 or the outer ring 1, and slidably contacting a slinger 22 and a hub ring 4 provided in a side of the other. The slinger 22 and the hub ring 4 slidably contacting the axial seal lips 23a, 32a are formed such that radial outward portions than sliding contact positions of the axial seal lips 23a, 32a are positioned axially outward than the sliding contact positions.
