PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fishing rod enabling a range of from a reel seat body to a grip to be held firmly, and having excellent operability. SOLUTION: The fishing rod 1 has a butt rod 2 having the grip 6, the reel seat body 21 fixed to the butt rod 2 so as to be positioned at the front part of the grip 6 and having a carrying face 25 receiving a reel leg 20, a cylindrical fixed hood 35 installed in the reel seat body 21 and holding the rear end of the reel leg 20 between the carrying face 25 and the fixed hood 35, and a movable hood 36 installed in the reel seat body 21, and holding the front end of the reel leg 20 between the carrying face 20 and the movable hood 36. The fixed hood 35 has flat engaging faces 45a and 45b directing the side directions of the reel seat body 21, installed at least a part of the outer periphery 35a. A recessed part 51 present along the circumferential direction of the butt rod 2 is formed at the position displaced in the grip 6 direction from the engaging faces 45a and 45b of the fixed hood 35.
