PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma welding robot system capable of reducing the damage of a tungsten electrode. SOLUTION: The plasma robot system is provided with: a plasma welding torch 12; a manipulator 10 in which the plasma welding torch is fitted to the tip of a wrist part; a robot controller of outputting an operational command signal to the manipulator; and a light shielding plate 20 provided in the vicinity of the manipulator and light-shielding the arc of the plasma welding torch, a retreating box 21 into which the tip part of the plasma welding torch is inserted, and which is formed so as to almost cover an ignited pilot arc, and has light shielding properties and non-combustibility is provided. In the system, the robot controller judges whether it is before plasma welding starting or after plasma welding finishing, and, also outputs a retreating command signal of inserting the tip part of the plasma welding torch into the retreating box to the manipulator during the ignition of the pilot arc.
