PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable generating a reproduced clock by detecting phase error information without inserting a special recording pattern for phase error detection into a recording area in reproducing multi-value information. SOLUTION: A multi-value information reproducing method is provided, wherein an ideal value between cells and an inclination near the ideal value are derived beforehand; one value between cells in two or more continuous cells and two or more cell central values to sandwich the value between cells are detected; and based on the difference between the value between cells and the ideal value between cells, and the inclination, the phase error information of the reproduced signal is acquired.
