PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which the contrast adjustment of a character display element and a marginal display element and enhancement of a specific line are possible. SOLUTION: A selection signal to assign an X electrode desired to be displayed in enhancement is set in a register 57 and the address of a RAM 20 stored with the data to be displayed on the X electrode is set in a register 55. While an assignment signal CONT is held at "ON", the terminal A side of selectors 54, 56 is selected, and the display data read out of the address set in the register 55 is displayed on the X electrode set in the register 57. In the case of ordinary display, the assignment signal CONT is set at "1", and the terminal B side is selected by the selectors 54, 56. Thereby, the display data of the RAM 20 and the selection signal of the common driver 60 are successively updated in synchronization with a clock signal CLK. By controlling the time to set the assignment signal CONT at "ON", the contrast adjustment and the enhancement of the specific line can be performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
