[Class 122 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] In a piston for an internal - combustion engine having a ball-and-socket connection with the rod 2 which also carries a pin C engaging a sliding block D in the piston, whereby the latter receives a rotary movement from the rod, the end of the rod is elliptical in form and is assembled with the piston by passing it through an elliptical recess A2 and turning through 90 degrees into engagement with the seating surfaces A1, B1. The ball head may be formed on the piston or on the rod and in the former case may be integral with or attached to the piston. |
