<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acceleration sensor and a magnetic disk drive equipped with the acceleration sensor capable of stably and highly precisely detecting the acceleration even when a drastic miniaturization is attained. <P>SOLUTION: The acceleration sensor comprises: the housing member; the spring member equipped in the housing member, provided with at least degree of freedom in a direction of the acceleration to be detected; the magnetic field generation member fixed in the housing member; and at least one field detection sensor and the weight fixed at the movable position of the spring member opposite to the magnetic field generation part. The magnetic field sensor comprises at least one multilayer structure MR element including the magnetization fixing layer and magnetization free layer. When no acceleration is impressed, the magnetic field is applied to at least one multilayer structure MR element in the direction approximately perpendicular to the lamination surface from the magnetic field generation member, but when the acceleration is applied, the magnetic field is applied while changing the angle corresponding to the applied acceleration angle which is applied in the approximately perpendicular direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
