PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device to which a developer replenishment container is detectably attached and which is attachable/detachable to/from an image forming apparatus, and to avoid an incorrect operation even in the developing device detached from the image forming apparatus without reducing operability. SOLUTION: In the developing unit 5, a replenishment port lever 23 is operated to open/close a replenishment port 41 of a toner container 2, and can have a first posture and a second posture. A lock lever 25 is operated to lock/unlock the toner container 2 to/from a container attachment part 33, and is capable of being operated when the replenishment port lever 23 has the first posture and is not capable of being operated when the replenishment port lever 23 has the second posture. A rotation prevention member 27 prevents the movement of the replenishment port lever 23 from the first posture to the second posture when detached from the printer 1, and releases the prevention against the replenishment port lever 23 when attached to the printer 1.
