PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly hold substrates when laminating them in a method, and to provide apparatus for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device, having liquid crystals inserted between first and second substrates, includes the steps for dropping the liquid crystals in an area defined by the seal of the first substrate; for pressurizing and laminating the first substrate 12 with the second substrate 14 in a vacuum chamber 24; for opening the chamber 24 into the atmosphere, while pressurizing the first substrate and the second substrate; and for making light irradiate the circumference seal 18, after pressurization of the first substrate and the second substrate has been released.
