PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swing arm type suspension device capable of miniaturizing the device itself and enhancing the layout degree of versatility of peripheral components. SOLUTION: In the swing arm type suspension device, a swing arm 25 for pivotally supporting a rear wheel 9 is pivotally supported by a body of a motorcycle in a vertically oscillating manner, and a cushion unit 30 for damping the oscillation of the swing arm 25 is mounted between the body and the swing arm 25. The cushion unit 30 extends in the right-to-left direction, and a link mechanism 31 for converting the oscillating displacement of the swing arm 25 into the stroke of the cushion unit 30 is provided between the cushion unit 30 and the swing arm 25.
