PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device which cuts even a workpiece having large cutting resistance like a thin plate such as recent ceramic green sheet and the laminated body by using a cutting blade of an extremely thin and flat shape with excellent cutting accuracy and productivity such as yield, and also to provide a cutter holder to be used for the cutting device. SOLUTION: In this cutting device, the cutting blade 20 of a flat blade shape is mounted on the cutter holder 10 vertically elevating by following up an elevatable ram 5. In the cutting device, a blade plate mounting block 10b of the cutter holder 10 is constituted to finely vibrate in the vertical direction, and the cutter holder 10 is internally provided with laminated type piezoelectric elements 24a and 24b. Lower surface sides of the piezoelectric elements 24a and 24b are joined to the blade plate mounting block 10b, and a cutting operation is performed, while imparting fine vibration of the vertical direction to the cutting blade 20 by the piezoelectric elements 24a and 24b in cooperation with a lowering operation of the cutting holder 10. In the structure of the cutter holder 10, a direct driving system of the cutting blade 20 can be adopted by internally providing the laminated type piezoelectric elements 24a and 24b.
