PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a heat-resistant granular cell coating layer by which the burning of molten metal and a mold developed at the pouring time of the molten metal in a casting process is prevented, the casting process is simplified and a finishing process after casting can drastically be omitted, heat resistant strength at high temperature is imparted to the mold and the high quality casting can be produced. SOLUTION: In this method, a binder, which is composed of alcohol solution containing one or more metallic alkoxides selected from metallic alkoxides of 4A or 3B group (except carbon) and 3A or 3B group in the periodic table of elements and these hydrolysis materials and alkali compound of alkali metals or alkali-earth metals, is applied to the material by an atomized spray, thereby forming the heat resistant granular cell coating layer.
