The mechanism has a locking tongue, which is detachably connected with a belt lock (6), where the lock is arranged at a base (14). A locking tongue retainer unit (2) has a passage opening (16) for a web, and a retainer jacket (26). The web is threaded in the direction of the belt tensioner. The jacket is associated with the opening such that buckle is pulled into the jacket by the force acting on the belt tensioner. An independent claim is also included for a locking tongue retainer unit comprising a passage opening.
