A device and a method for detecting a person are provided to detect the person by calculating a recognition level that entire shape of components formed by integrated segments is recognized as a human body, differentially updating probability to be selected at first and to be connected in response to the calculated recognition level, and repeating update. A segmentation part(120) analyzes color information of each pixel forming an image and generates segments by grouping the pixels having similarity among the analyzed color information.
