PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmitting chain which relieves stress concentration produced in a link and keeps the elongation of a chain within an appropriate value, and a power transmission device. SOLUTION: A power transmitting chain 1 is equipped with a plurality of links 11, 21, a plurality of pins 14 and a plurality of interpieces 15. The links 11, 21 are made up of a link 11 with a column of which the elongation is controlled by taking front and rear insertion parts 12, 13 as independent through holes and of a link 21 without a column which is relatively easy to stretch by taking front and rear insertion parts 22, 23 as one through hole.
