PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor capable of effectively preventing liquid compression with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This compressor is provided with an axial gap type motor 3 arranged in a low pressure side of a hermetic vessel 1 and a compression mechanism part 2 arranged in the hermetic vessel 1 and driven by the axial gap type motor 3. A suction passage 41 having a suction port 41a opening to an air gap side near rotation center of the rotor 30 of the axial gap type motor 3. Refrigerant gas sucked in the low pressure side of the hermetic vessel 1 is introduced to the compression mechanism part 2 via the suction passage 41 and the air gap of the axial gap type motor.
