PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of construction of a dam satisfied with only one time of change-over of river flow by using a primary change-over temporary water passage as a dam, although twice or more times of change over are necessary in the conventional method. SOLUTION: The construction method includes a process for excavating a place for laying a flow-turning water passage, a process for placing a foundation for the flow-turning water passage, a process for constructing the flow-turning water passage, a process for constructing a cofferdam part on an upstream side of the river to change over the river flow to the flow-turning water passage, a process for excavating the place besides the flow-turning water passage in the installation place of the dam levee body, a process for placing a lower part of the dam levee body using CSG or concrete, a process for constructing a corridor in the dam levee body, a process for placing an upper part of the dam levee body using the CSG or concrete, a process for closing a reservoir gate of an intake port of the flow-turning water passage, a process for constructing an intersection of the flow-turning water passage and the corridor, and a process for closing the flow-turning water passage.
