PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mist separation apparatus capable of being used for a long period of time without closing a gas flow passage or the like even in a mist tarized and fixed in a short time, and a method for stably producingε-caprolactam for a long period of time using this. SOLUTION: The production method forε-caprolactam includes an evaporation step for evaporating cyclohexanonoxime; a mist separation step for separating the mist in the obtained evaporation gas; and a reaction step in which an evaporation gas of cyclohexanoneoxime separated with the mist is subjected to a vapor phase Beckmann rearrangement reaction in the presence of a catalyst. A screen for capturing the mist crossing a gas flowing direction, i.e., the mist separation apparatus 20 used for separating the mist in which a gas flowing-in port 51 is provided on one end of a vessel 2 and a gas flowing out port 32 is provided on the other end and a plurality of chains 22 are hung down from an upper part of the vessel 2 in at least one row in the vessel is formed.
