PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel cosmetic which does not make the hair or skin smell of tobacco smoke. SOLUTION: A graft polymer obtained by irradiating a mixture containing a water-soluble substrate for a graft polymer, dimethylacrylamide, acrylic acid, and urea with radiation has excellent capability to adsorb ammonia and acetaldehyde which are main causes of the offensive odor of tobacco. Further, when the cosmetic containing the above graft polymer as an active ingredient is previously applied to the hair, there is no smell of tobacco even on exposure to tobacco smoke. Accordingly, the cosmetic containing the above graft polymer as an active ingredient is useful as a cosmetic which does not make the hair or skin smell of tobacco. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
