PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for decomposition of organic matter enabling improvement of the thermal efficiency and realization of an apparatus of a compact structure. SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for decomposition of organic matter decomposes garbage 29 containing a specified content of moisture by heating and has a metal-made reaction vessel 3 containing garbage 29, an induction coil 15 electrified with high-frequency waves and generating an induced current in the reaction vessel 3, a cooling water circulating unit 21 circulating cooling water into the inside of the induction coil 15 and a controller 17 controlling the electrification to the induction coil 15 and the operation of the circulating unit 21.
