The method involves activating a windscreen wiper system of a motor vehicle by a rain sensor, where a low beam light is activated when activating the windscreen wiper system. A switched-on high beam light is switched to the low beam light, where the low beam light is activated dependent of the speed of the vehicle. The low beam light is activated with different intensities in dependence of environment brightness.
