<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of restraining image failure resulting from a decrease in restricting force on a transferred member, such as an intermediate transfer member, which is caused by, for example, switching from a full-color mode to a color reduction mode. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes a plurality of image forming units 10, and an intermediate transfer belt 20, rotated along a path and on which each image forming unit 10 is located. The image forming apparatus 1 has a full-color mode, in which the intermediate transfer belt 20 come into contact with the photoreceptor drums 11 of all the image forming units 10, and a monochrome mode, in which the intermediate transfer belt 20 is separated from the photoreceptor drums 11 of the image forming units 10 other than the black image forming unit 10K. In the monochrome mode, the pressing force of a primary transfer roll 30K is set higher than that assigned in the full color mode and an amount of offset relative to the photoreceptor drum 11 is made larger than that assigned in the full-color mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
