PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a high quality color image by suppressing registration deviation of each color occurring immediately after the start of a scanner and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In a driver IC 78 installed in an optical deflector 70, there is mounted a thermal accumulator 80 formed in a block with an aluminum alloy or the like by means of an adhesive 82 such as a heat conductive adhesive. During the temperature rise of the driver IC 78 right after the start of an image forming apparatus, the heat generated from the driver IC 78 is absorbed and stored in the thermal accumulator 80, with a temperature gradient controlled so as to have a gentle temperature rise. Accordingly, temperature rise in the optical scanner is made gentler, with gentle heat-affected positional deviation of the optical system, and with gentle gradient of registration change on the surface to be scanned by each light beam.
