PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defects such as welding distortion and welding mark from occurring in a cylinder body even if employing welding to couple a bracket to the cylinder body. SOLUTION: A covering tube 10 is fitted into and fixed to an opening end of a bottomed cylinder 1 of which a piston rod 3 whose one end is coupled to a piston 7 comes out in an elongating manner with the opening end being covered with a cup 14. A spring seat 11 for receiving a suspension spring is pressed into and then fixed to an overhanging portion 15 provided at an end side of the cup 14 of the covering tube 10. Besides, a hose bracket 12 and a harness bracket 13 are fixed by means of welding to an extending tube 16 for extending from the overhanging portion 15 to the bottom side of the cylinder 1. Due to welding the brackets 12, 13 to the covering tube 10, heat generated by welding makes no effect on the cylinder 1, thus preventing the occurrence of the welding distortion and welding mark that are resulting from the welding.
