PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine preventing oil or the like from residing in a starter case even if the oil or the like in the crank case invading into the starter case. SOLUTION: The engine is provided with a generator cover 11 including a starter case 12 storing and retaining an output part 4a of a starter motor as one unit, and an oil return pipe 24 establishing communication between a bottom part in the starter case 12 and a section of the generator cover 11 lower than a bottom part in the starter case 12 is arranged.
