摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake control system and method for a vehicle capable of properly shortening a stopping distance of the vehicle after a braking force is applied to the vehicle in an antilock brake control operation. SOLUTION: When a vehicle body deceleration is equal to or more than a vehicle body deceleration threshold in a braking application to the vehicle, CPU determines it as high G braking, and repeatedly executes an operation for retaining and increasing braking force of front wheels so that slip ratio of the front wheels becomes equal to or more than a second slip ratio threshold and less than first slip ratio threshold. Then, if the slip ratio of the front wheels becomes equal to or more than slip ratio threshold of a control start time, and the vehicle body deceleration becomes more than the vehicle body deceleration threshold, CPU starts the antilock brake control. This means CPU starts the antilock brake control only after making a condition of increasing the braking force of the vehicle by maximally increasing vertical load of the front wheels.
