PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem on a crash box for a bumper device, composed of three parts: a body and a top and a bottom covers which are welded to the body, thus causing a large number of parts and work processes. SOLUTION: This impact absorbing member (5) is composed of side walls (11, 11) facing the impact absorbing member and a top and a bottom walls 14, 15. The each wall is formed into a waveform, composed of thin portions (13, 16) and thick portions (12, 17) to facilitate plastic deformation when an impact load is received.
