[Class 114] In propelling marine craft by propulsive effort obtained by direct thrust against the water by means of a propeller consisting of two hinged vanes 16, housed in a cylindrical thrust tube, 10, and adapted to fold together during the forward stroke and open out during the rearward stroke the thrust tube is formed as a closed casing of streamline shape; extended forwardly to house the actuating mechanism and having large apertures 20 in its tapering rear portion 28 to permit entry of the water on which the vanes act. The flaps are mounted on a rod 12 reciprocated directly by the piston 34 of a double acting power cylinder 36. |
