<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which need not form a specified image pattern so as to restrain toner consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with: an image carrier which carries an electrostatic latent image; developer which is composed of toner and magnetic carrier; a developer carrier which carries the developer; and a detection means which detects the adhesion of the carrier to the image carrier and the adhesion of the toner to a white part. In the apparatus, the detection means always monitors the adhesion of the carrier to the image carrier and the adhesion of the toner to the white part. When the adhesion of the carrier or the adhesion of the toner is equal to or above specified amount, a condition that the adhesion of the carrier and fogging are easily caused is formed by changing fogging eliminating potential between the image carrier and the developer carrier. Then, the latitude of the fogging eliminating potential is calculated, and the fogging eliminating potential is decided based on the result of calculation of the latitude of the fogging eliminating potential. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
