<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust phase relation between image carriers with high accuracy, in an image forming apparatus designed such that at least one or more image carriers are connected to each of a plurality of drive motors, and the plurality of drive motors are driven at a predetermined regular speed, thereby toner images formed on the corresponding image carriers are superposed to form a color image while rotating the image carriers. <P>SOLUTION: A rise time difference (tA-tB) is obtained taking the rise time of each drive motor into account. The timing of switching each drive motor from a phase detection speed Vi to a regular speed Vdef is controlled based on an output time difference Δts and the rise time difference (tA-tB), and thereby a phase difference between the photoreceptor drums is adjusted to a set phase angle. Accordingly, even if the rise time characteristic of each drive motor varies, the phase relations between the photoreceptor drums can appropriately be adjusted with high accuracy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
