PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion picture reproducing apparatus and control method thereof in which operation such as reproduction and stop is not required. SOLUTION: While a visual line or the face is not turned toward a display device (S3:NO) and it is under motion picture reproduction (S5:YES), motion picture reproduction is stopped (S13), and position information indicating a position of the stop is stored (S15). While the visual line or the face is turned toward the display device (S3:YES) and it is not under motion picture reproduction (S7:NO) but while position information is being stored (S9:YES), the position information is read out (S17) and motion picture reproduction is started from a position that the position information indicates (S19).
