PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and low-height piezoelectric oscillator capable of being reduced in height and superior in productivity. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric oscillator is provided with a piezoelectric resonator 1, formed by hermetically sealing a piezoelectric element 5; an IC chip 7 constituting an oscillation circuit; and a container 10, provided with an electrode pad 12 for mounting the IC chip 7, housing the IC chip 7 and hermetically sealed using the piezoelectric resonator 1 as a lid. In this oscillator, a cavity 15 for housing the IC chip 7 and a concave portion 6 for bump to be provided on the bottom surface of the cavity 15, corresponding to the position of a bump 8 to be provided on the IC chip 7, are formed in the container 10, an electrode pad 12 is provided at the bottom surface of the concave portion 6 for bump, and the bump 8 is jointed to the electrode pad 12 provided on the bottom surface of the concave portion 6 for bump, while the surface of the IC chip 7 where the bump 8 is provided abutting against the bottom surface of the cavity 15.
